Waxing F.A.Q

1. What is waxing and how does it work?

Waxing is a natural, safe, non-permanent hair removal method that removes hair from the root. First, a thin layer of wax is spread over the skin. Next, a cloth or paper strip is pressed on top and ripped off which a quick movement against the direction of hair growth.

Waxing at Zengarden is performed with utmost hygienic and professional procedures. We use disposable tools whenever possible and our therapists are specifically trained for the job.

2. What are the advantages of waxing over shaving?

Other methods such as shaving or removing hair by depilatory cream merely removes the hair at the surface, as opposed to extracting it fully from the root. Within a few days, hair can be seen growing back and these methods result in a rough, ungainly stubble. On the contrary, hair in waxed areas will not grow back for 3 to 6 weeks; when the hair does grow back, it is significantly softer and finer than before.

Areas that have been waxed over long periods often exhibit a thinning re-growth, and hair is usually finer, softer, and lighter in colour.

3. How long will waxing results last?

The results can last 4 to 6 weeks depending on the individual’s hair re-growth. The ideal length for another treatment is when the hair has grown to around ½ cm.

4. Will waxing make my hair grow back thicker / darker?

Absolutely not. Waxing does not cause you to grow more hair follicles. In fact, if you become a regular waxer, you will notice that your hair will become quite sparse and not as course.

5. What is so special about waxing at Zengarden?

Zengarden cares obsessively on 3 main criteria to ensure you have a perfect waxing treatment: Hygiene, Wax Quality and Technique.

For Hygiene, we use pre-sealed, individually disposable hygiene packs to emphasise our dedication to cleanliness.

Zengarden uses great quality wax imported from Singapore to ensure that you get a good treatment without any skin inflammation and infections.

All our therapists go through a strict boot camp consisting of at least 4 to 6 weeks of vigorous training before servicing their first customers.

6. If I shave, how long do I have to wait for my first wax?

If you shave, we ask that you wait 10-14 days before you wax.

7. What is Brazilian Wax and how does it work?

A Brazilian Wax is the depilation of all hair from the pubic region, both front and back. Our emphasis on great quality wax and highly-trained therapists will ensure your treatment to go as smooth as possible.

8. Why should I go for a Brazilian Wax?

Having a smooth intimate area is fast becoming a prime part of the modern person’s grooming standard. Also, seeing that it extracts hair at the very root, your hair tends to grow back softer and smoother.

9. What is the dress code for a Brazilian Wax?

You will need to remove your bottom apparel (yes, that includes your underwear), but a towel and a panty will be provided to shield your nether region prior to the treatment.

10. Does a Brazilian Wax hurt?

Admittedly, there will be some discomfort, especially if this is your virgin experience. However, the pain is tolerable.

But fear not, Brazilian Wax has been safely performed by millions of women and it is only performed by our highly trained therapists with great quality wax. We will also give you an After-Care guide to ensure you have great results post treatment.

11. Can a male patron does Brazilian Wax at Zengarden?

Unfortunately, due to Indonesian cultural code, we haven't been able to perform Brazilian Wax on our male patrons. However, many of our male patrons do waxing on their backs or lower legs.

12. How long does a Brazilian Wax take?

A Brazilian Wax takes approximately 30 – 40 minutes depending on the amount of hair to be removed and also personal preference.

13. How often can I get a Brazilian Wax?

You can go for a Brazilian Wax when there is approximately 6mm in hair length; this is the ideal length for an optimum wax and as long as you are not menstruating. Typically, most people will get a treatment done between 3 to 6 weeks after their last wax.

14. Is Brazilian Wax safe for a pregnant woman?

It is best to consult your gynaecologist before you have your treatment done, but it is generally safe to have your treatment done after your first trimester.

15. Are there any health conditions that I need to disclose before making my appointment?
